JBA USA fall short in Lithuania

Despite getting off to a good start to begin the game, JBA USA couldn’t keep up with Sintek-Jonava high flying three pointers and rebounds.

JBA USA put up a fight in the second half, but fell short in a 126-118 loss to Sintek-Jonava on Saturday night at Jonava Sporto Arena in Jonava, Lithuania.

Despite a great performance from Je’rell Springer, who scored a team high 27 points with six rebounds for JBA USA (1-1), they were missing their bigs down in the post with Nate Morris out with a knee injury.

Nyang Wek, Melvin Davis and Corey Boyd are expected to join the team for their game on Monday October 1st against Alytaus Dzukija at the Alytaus Arena.

With the 6-10 big man out, JBA USA had a hard time battling for rebounds with the tall post players for Sintek-Jonava. Juozas Ramanauskas led all rebounders with 14 boards to go along with his eight points. Justas Furmanavicius led all scorers with 32 points to go with his seven rebounds for Sintek-Jonava.

Cameron Clark and LiAngelo Ball led JBA USA with seven rebounds apiece, but the team fell behind on the boards 61-45.

Gelo scored 26 points with eight assists. LaMelo Ball fell one steal short of a triple-double with 19 points, 16 assists and nine steals. He would have had the 10th steal, but fouled out midway through the fourth quarter.

Rimantas Daunys scored 20 points and Tadas Sebeziovas added 17 points with five assists for Sintek-Jonava, which shot 45.8 percent from three point range.

Troy Franklin led Sintek-Jonava with 12 assists to go with his 11 points, nine of those points came from the three point arch.

Augustinas Jankaitis scored 14 points and Justas Vazalis added 13 points and five assists for Sintek-Jonava.

Curtis Hollis scored 17 points and Deon Lyle added 15 points for JBA USA.
