Ball Brothers help Team JBA USA extend winning streak with win over Polpharma

Sometimes people mess around and get a triple double.

What do you do when they’re two steals short from a quadruple double?

LaMelo Ball scored 28 points with 18 assists, 14 rebounds and eight steals to lead Team JBA USA to a 151-133 victory over Polpharma Skarszewy Gdansk on Thursday evening at the Skarszewy Sports Center in Skarszewy, Poland.

The victory extends JBA USA (6-2) winning streak to five games.

Big brother LiAngelo Ball led Team JBA USA with 43 points while Curtis Hollis scored 41 points to go with his 13 rebounds and seven assists.

“We just wanted to come out hard,” Gelo said. “That’s the main goal as a team. We want to come out hard with a lot of energy and beat the other team off the rim. We have been getting closer and hanging out together. We have been practicing hard. If we practice hard as a team, we win hard as a team.”

Je’rell Springer added 25 points and 12 rebounds while Melvin Davis scored 10 points with 11 boards and four blocked shots for JBA USA. The team lead for all but two minutes of the game.

Daniel Golebiowski led Polpharma with 28 points while Filip Struski added 24 points and nine rebounds. Polpharma was outrebounded 65 to 53 and had the ball stolen 17 times with 28 turnovers to JBA USA’s nine turnovers. Polpharma only had nine steals.

Thomas Davis scored 23 points with eight assists for Polpharma while Aleksander Zalucki had 12 points and Michael Hicks added eight points.

The majority of the rebounds for Polpharma were taken by Brett Prahl, who grabbed 16 rebounds to go with his 21 points. Adam Kemp grabbed 10 boards to go with seven points.

Polpharma played without Justin Bibbins, who is nursing an ankle injury. Had Bibbins played, it would of been a reunion with him and the Ball brothers. Bibbins played AAU basketball for  Compton Magic and played at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California while the Ball brothers were playing AAU for Big Ballers while also playing at Chino Hills High School.

Harrison Rieger scored four points for JBA USA. The team will now head to Baunach, Germany to take on Baunach Young Pikes at the Graf-Stauffenberg Halle on Wednesday October 24. Game time is set for 1:00 pm EST.
